Midsummer celebrations

As maybe some of you know, in the Northern Europe the Midsummer night is a pretty big thing. That's the one night when the day is the longest and the sun sets super late (in the North not at all) and rises before it even gets dark. In Finland almost everyone living in the cities travel to the countryside and Helsinki becomes dead quiet for a couple of days. Shops are closed and the traffic away from the cities is bad - at least on the Finnish standards. (Feels like in just a week all my English skills are gone, so I am sorry for my crappy grammar and spelling mistakes. If they bother you too much just stop reading haha.)

My parents have a summer cottage about 1,5 hours away from Helsinki. It's by a lake and there's a sauna and no running water. So if you need a toilet, feel free to do your thing in the woods or in the wooden toilet. At the cottage we mostly eat BBQ food and new potatoes. Time goes by surprisingly fast on a sunny day, because everything you do takes so long; preparing the food, sunbathing, warming the sauna with wood, having a bonfire... For me it's the perfect way to spend a couple of days and enjoy the company of some great people. The only bad thing this time were the mosquitoes and the fact I couldn't swim or go to the sauna because of my new tattoo. Otherwise I had a great time. Can't wait to go again.

The photo is cool but there were so many mosquitos that quite soon we had to run away
Around 4AM we went rowing in the middle of the lake and the sun started to rise

It was awesome. Otherwise Finland has been alright - I got sick as soon as I got here which kind of sucks and now it's raining for some days. But yeah it feels good to be home. Today we had snails for dinner with the whole family. That doesn't happen too often, having the whole family around the same dinner table I mean. And my friends are great as always. Tomorrow I'll start working again as a poker dealer and a croupier, and today I decided to go to a festival in three weeks, since I only live once.
